Dasha Korchak passed away on July 13, early in the morning. Dasha had to go through a lot of unbearable suffering during the last few days of her life. In addition to the intense pain, she also had difficulties breathing. She even had to sleep while sitting because she couldn’t lie down. However, she still wanted to live. She believed she would get better and would win a victory over her disease. Despite severe pain and deterioration of her health, she was dreaming about going to the seaside this summer, about going to her friend’s wedding, about eating green apples she liked so much. She would have celebrated her fourteenth birthday in two months. Dasha had been fighting against cancer for two years. But she had never been alone because her parents, blood donors, volunteers, and sponsors had always been with her. They were always ready to donate their blood, money, and time to her. Your support was giving Dasha faith, strength, and hope. But now it’s all over for her. She has no more pain and suffering. Dasha has completed this very difficult journey. Her family says thank you to everyone for your help.

Dasha Korchak, DOB September 19, 1995, sarcoma of the femoral bone
Daria fell sick in summer 2007, when she was 12 years old. She started complaining about pain in her knee. However, she was able to go to school for the whole month of September. But in October we had to go to the children’s hospital where she stayed for a month. I asked the doctors to X-ray her knee but they said there was no need to do that. Then they told Daria to apply heat to her knee, which only aggravated her situation – she had to take painkillers all the time. When the doctors finally X-rayed her knee, they diagnozed her with tumor and referred Daria to the regional children’s hospital where she had a biopsy done. She was diagnozed with sarcoma of the lower third of the right femor (thigh).
Daria has already completed six blocks of chemotherapy and one block of radiotherapy. Now we need to go to Kiev to have one more block of chemotherapy done. Then the doctors will have to decide whether the surgery can be done or not (Daria needs hip replacement) but the problem is that she already has metastases in her lungs. In Kiev they said Daria would be able to walk after hip replacement. Then she will have to go through four more blocks of chemotherapy and to have lung metastases treated. Daria gave her consent to the surgery but the implant is very expensive and we cannot afford it. I cannot work because I spend all the time with my daughter at the hospital. After several blocks of chemotherapy, Daria does not have any energy– she cannot walk even on crutches. My husband works at the factory. We use the money he makes for repaying the bank loan and the debt (we borrowed money from our friends for the treatment of our daughter). We don’t know what to expect but we would like to believe only in good things. We will be thankful for any help.
