Vlad Kiselenko passed away on Sunday. He was undergoing treatment at the regional hospital in Kiev. Vlad had a very rare disease - Louis-Bar syndrome. Leukemia and lymphoma are typical complications of this disease. The patients diagnozed with Louis-Bar syndrome usually die at the age of 12-14 years old, with the only exception of a male patient from the USA, who died at the age of 30.

Vlad Kiselenko, DOB October 8, 1998, non-hodgkins lymphoma
Vlad is our only child. He was born healthy and didn’t have any health problem until the age of one. Soon after getting vaccinated at the age of one, he got problems with the vestibular system. Then he was diagnozed with the infantile cerebral paralysis. I used to take Vlad to Kiev for the treatment twice a year. I also used to take him to a specialized rehabilitation center in Evpatoria once a year. However, it was ineffective. Vlad had frequent pneumonias, which we managed to cure within short periods of time. Four years ago, he was diagnozed with the Louis-Bar syndrome (cephalooculocutaneous telangiectasia), which was confirmed both by the results of the analyses and the symptoms. The Louis-Bar syndrome resulted in a large-cell lymphoma, stage IV. The doctors found it during the appendectomy.
Vlad is undergoing the chemotherapy now. He is about to start the second block. Although Vlad has a number of complications during the chemotherapy, he tries to be strong. He realizes that he should go through all these procedures. Every time the doctor asks him, “How are you doing?”, he answers, “I am all right.” Vlad needs very expensive medications for the chemotherapy, taking into account a very late stage of cancer. We hope the miracle will happen and the treatment will be effective. We also hope people will help us pay for Vlad’s treatment.
