Soon after having a surgery done for the removal of tumor from her frontal bone, Masha was diagnozed with a very rare disease – histiocytosis, stage IV. The doctors say she has 40% chance of recovery. Here is a summary of the story we heard from Masha’s father. In November 2008, Masha had a very high fever for four days. The doctors explained it by toothing. It was followed by the false diagnosis of meningococcus and ten days at the hospital. Then she got a swollen eyelid. The doctors said it was caused by the cold. Finally, she had a tomography done, which showed a tumor on her frontal bone. Fortunately enough, the tumor was encapsulated and was completely removed. It didn’t affect either the brain or the eye. The surgery was done on June 11, 2009. After the surgery, Masha stopped walking.
Based on the results of various analyses, she was diagnozed with histiocytosis. This diagnosis was confirmed both at the Cancer Institute and at the Regional Cancer Hospital in Kiev. Masha has been staying at the specialized children’s hospital Ohmatdet in Kiev since June 26. In addition to the histiocytosis, she got sepsis and gastrointestinal hemorrhage. She has multifocal affection of the flat bones, bone marrow, liver, spleen, lymph nodes, intestines, and skin! Masha’s family is asking both for prayer and financial support. Masha won’t be able to continue treatment without your help.
