Last month Sergei Stepanenko came back from Moscow where he was seen by the doctor specializing in the desmoid tumors. She prescribed the following treatment to Sergei: 3-month chemotherapy, computer tomography, and surgery. Sergei needs 16 vials of Vinblastine for the chemotherapy. His mother will also have to pay about $5,200 for his surgery in Moscow (this type of surgery cannot be performed in Ukraine), not to mention the cost of transportation, accommodations, and food.
