Alexander Perevertailo, DOB October 8, 2003, acute lymphblastic leukemia

Our son, Alexander Perevertailo, is 5 years old. We have seven children in our family – three daughters and four sons. The oldest daughter is 20 years old. The youngest son is 2 years old. When I was pregnant with Alexander, we lost our daughter through the accident. She was only 1 year old. Alexander was a healthy child. He was probably the most playful of all our children. When someone asked him a question, “What are you going to do when you grow up?”, he always answered, “A dad.” He likes role-playing, toy cars, and tools.

One day when the kids were playing and running, our 8-year-old son fell on Alexander. It caused the compression fracture of the lumbar spine. Alexander spent three months at home wearing spinal support. During these three months all the younger kids had rubella and flue. Alexander also had fever. But then we noticed that he became pale and started losing weight. When he started vomiting, we took him to the children’s regional hospital in Kiev, where he was diagnozed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. We have spent a month at the hospital. Alexander is undergoing the chemotherapy now. We would like to say thank you to all the doctors and our friends, who helped us financially during this first month. However, we have already realized that the treatment for leukemia is a very long and expensive process. Our large family cannot afford paying for it. We will be thankful for any help.

From the volunteers:

It’s impossible not to fall in love with this family. Their relationships are truly based on love, trust, and understanding. Alexander is a very quiet and patient boy that has a smile on his face most of the time. This family learned to deal with daily challenges by themselves, but such challenge as leukemia is too much for them to handle on their own. They really hope for your help.
